Role – We are looking for an Operations Research to play a key role in helping to develop and deploy cutting-edge tools for one of our customers. In this role, you will contribute to delivering high-quality algorithm testing and optimisation solutions that support the balancing of the client’s system.
Key Responsibilities
• Work with project and customer teams on dispatch algorithm development.
• Test, improve, and maintain control and optimisation algorithms.
• Collaborate with internal teams to implement new capabilities within the IT platform.
• Conduct quality assurance on modern optimisation algorithms.
• Support data-driven decision-making by collecting and interpreting key operational data.
• Develop custom data models and algorithms to optimize system performance.
• Ensure seamless coordination between various functional teams and business stakeholders.
Key Skills
• Strong background in operations research, with expertise in optimisation methods and control algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python, with experience using Gurobi Optimizer and other mathematical programming solvers (LP, QP, MILP, MIQP, MIQCP).
• Experience solving complex optimisation problems using various techniques.
• Strong data analysis skills, including data collection, preprocessing, and modelling.
• Understanding of electricity markets and power system operations, including economic dispatch and unit commitment problems.
• Experience with cloud-native IT solutions.
• MSc or PhD in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Operations Research (preferred).
• Consulting background.
• Strong communication skills (oral & written)
• Rights to work in the UK is must (No Sponsorship available)
