Key Responsibilities
- Configure, maintain and enhance Workday functionality, particularly across Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence and Business Processes.
- Translate complex HR and Payroll business requirements into effective Workday configurations and solutions.
- Independently investigate system challenges, design solutions, configure changes and support deployment.
- Enhance Canadian Payroll functionality, including pay groups, earnings and deduction codes, wage structures, vacation calculations and retroactive adjustments.
- Configure and optimize Workday Business Processes to improve operational efficiency and user experience.
- Assess the impact of Workday changes across modules, calculated fields, reporting, security and integrations.
- Support ongoing Workday optimization, system releases, testing and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with HR, Payroll, IT, Finance and other stakeholders to identify system improvements and automation opportunities.
- Maintain technical documentation, testing records and change-management procedures.
- Provide escalated HRIS support and contribute to continuous system improvement.
- 5+ years of Workday HRIS experience, ideally within a hands-on configuration or functional systems role.
- Strong experience with Workday configuration, particularly Business Processes, Payroll, Time Tracking and Absence.
- Experience supporting and optimizing a live Workday environment.
- Ability to independently assess business challenges and translate requirements into practical Workday solutions.
- Understanding of Canadian Payroll processes and associated system configurations.
- Exposure to complex payroll environments, ideally including unionized workforces and collective bargaining agreements.
- Experience with Workday reporting, calculated fields, security and integrations.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and stakeholder-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams.
- A relevant degree in HR, Business Information Systems or a related discipline.
- Workday Payroll certification.
- Experience supporting Workday configuration within a complex, multi-site organization.
- Experience with post-implementation optimization, acquisitions and system enhancements.
