Incident Response and Python Integration Engineer

Job Reference No.BH-34282
LocationGreater London, South East, England
Salary (Per Annum)£600 - £650 per day, Benefits: N/A
We currently require a hands on Python Integration programme with incident response management experience to work on a project for a prestigious AI and Automotive client who design interfaces for autonomously operated cars and drones.

You will own the plumbing of their incident response: pulling signals from many systems into incident.io, wiring it to Jira and Slack, and making sure every escalation path actually works under pressure.

This is not a project management role. You will sit with operations, engineering and compliance teams, understand what must happen when an incident fires, and then build it yourself in Python, APIs, webhooks and platform configuration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, build and maintain integrations between incident.io and Jira, Slack, monitoring, alerting and internal systems
  • Write production-quality Python services and scripts that consume and expose APIs and webhooks
  • Normalise and route inbound alerts from many sources so incidents are created, enriched and deduplicated automatically
  • Keep Jira tickets, Slack channels and incident records in sync across the full incident lifecycle
  • Define what must be flagged immediately, including failures or unexpected behaviour in AI and automated decisioning systems
  • Build severity rules, on-call routing and escalation policies that reach the right person within agreed timeframes
  • Automate stakeholder and regulatory notifications where incidents carry compliance or customer impact
  • Work directly with operations, engineering, risk and compliance teams to capture what needs to happen during an incident
  • Turn those requirements into concrete technical configuration, workflows and runbooks inside the tooling
  • Get into the weeds of each workflow rather than handing specifications to others
  • Test integrations and escalation paths end to end, including failure modes, retries and webhook delivery issues
  • Run game days and simulated incidents to prove workflows work before a real outage does
  • Monitor the health of the integrations themselves, and document configuration, ownership and recovery steps
  • Support post-incident reviews with accurate timelines and data, and feed lessons back into the tooling
Essential Experience:
  • Hands-on implementation of incident management or operational tooling, ideally incident.io or a comparable platform.
  • Strong Python skills for building integrations, automation and services that run in production
  • Proven work with REST APIs and webhooks, including authentication, payload handling, retries and error handling
  • Practical experience integrating and automating Jira and Slack
  • Background in a safety-critical or regulated environment where incident reporting is heavily scrutinised, such as betting, gaming, banking or financial services
  • Clear understanding of how incident response protects revenue, customers and media reputation, and how speed of response drives cost
  • Ability to sit with non-technical stakeholders, draw out operational requirements and translate them into working configuration
  • A testing mindset: you prove escalation paths work before they are needed

To be considered for this role you must have excellent hands on Python programming experience and be based in the UK as this is an Inside IR35 contract role.

You will be required onsite in Central London 2-3 days per week.
