Our client is seeking a Workday Grants Lead to drive the design, configuration, and ongoing support of research and grants management solutions within the Workday ecosystem. This role is highly hands-on and will focus on optimizing Workday Grants and Endowments functionality, including complex financial processes such as simulated billing, while ensuring seamless integration across Finance, HCM, and Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary functional lead for Workday Grants, partnering with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective system solutions.
- Gather and analyze requirements, document current and future state processes, and support solution design and configuration within Workday.
- Configure and maintain Workday Grants and Endowments, including business processes, reporting, security, and integrations.
- Support and enhance financial processes such as simulated billing, ensuring alignment with accounting standards and organizational policies.
- Lead and support testing activities including unit testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Provide hands-on post–go-live support, troubleshooting issues, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring system stability and performance.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and data quality enhancements across systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support integrations and ensure alignment across Workday modules.
- Develop documentation, training materials, and support user adoption across the organization.
- Strong hands-on experience with Workday, including configuration of business processes, reporting, and security.
- Direct experience with Workday Grants, including simulated billing and post–go-live support.
- Solid understanding of research administration and grants lifecycle (pre-award, post-award, compliance, financial tracking).
- Knowledge of accounting principles related to grants, billing, and funding structures.
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting Workday integrations (EIB, Core Connectors, Studio).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with reporting and analytics tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
- 7+ years of experience in Workday administration, systems analysis, or functional consulting
- Proven experience supporting Workday modules through implementation and post-production support
- Experience with Workday release cycles, testing, and deployment activities
- Familiarity with Workday Extend is a plus
- Experience in higher education, healthcare, or similarly regulated environments
- Workday certifications strongly preferred
- Alternative background considered: Candidates with strong PeopleSoft Grants experience—particularly within higher education or healthcare—who bring expertise in simulated billing from an accounting perspective and post–go-live support
- No supervisory responsibilities
- No specific licenses or certifications required beyond preferred Workday credentials
