Job Title Oracle Database Administrator (Level 2/3) – Contract

Contract Details
  • Location: Remote (Canada-based candidates only)

  • Duration: 3 months

  • Rate: Open to discussion

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Oracle DBA (Level 2/3) to provide operational support and risk cover for an existing Oracle estate. The environment primarily consists of legacy Oracle systems, recently upgraded to Oracle 19c.

This role is not focused on greenfield development or building new Oracle-based systems. Instead, the primary objective is to ensure stability, security, performance, and continuity of service across established platforms.

Key Responsibilities Database Administration & Support
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 DBA support for Oracle database-related issues

  • Diagnose, manage, and resolve incidents and service requests in a timely manner

  • Open, manage, and drive resolution of Oracle Service Requests (SRs) with Oracle Support

Stability, Risk & Operational Assurance
  • Act as risk cover for the Oracle environment, ensuring business continuity

  • Ensure issues are properly resolved, regression-tested, and reviewed

  • Maintain the security, integrity, and availability of databases and data

Performance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform application and database tuning

  • Monitor database performance and proactively identify potential issues

  • Conduct investigative troubleshooting and root cause analysis

Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery
  • Manage backup and recovery processes

  • Support and maintain Disaster Recovery solutions

  • Validate recoverability and ensure procedures are documented and reliable

Maintenance & Change Activities
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of legacy Oracle environments, including those recently upgraded to 19c

  • Undertake installations, upgrades, migrations, and patch management

  • Support Oracle E-Business Suite environments (Database & Application Server)

Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA (Level 2/3)

  • Proven experience supporting legacy Oracle environments

  • Solid knowledge of Oracle 19c

  • Experience working with Oracle E-Business Suite

  • Strong understanding of backup, recovery, and DR strategies

  • Comfortable working independently in a remote contract role

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
