Workday Financial Administrator

About the role
This is a rare chance to step in early and genuinely shape how a Workday Financials function is built. You will take ownership of the Workday Financials suite end to end and become the go-to person for everything Workday Finance across the business. If you like autonomy, visibility, and building something properly from the start, this one will suit you.

You will be joining one of the first Workday clients on their journey to becoming MSP certified. That means you are not walking into a steady-state admin role. You are helping to create the blueprint, set standards, and establish best practice from the ground up. For the right person, this has a clear path into a Workday Finance Director style position as the organisation grows.

What you will be doing

Owning Workday Financials end to end

• Full ownership of the Workday Financials ecosystem, including Financials Core and related areas such as Expenses, Procurement, Projects, and Inventory (depending on your background)
• Day-to-day administration, configuration, optimisation, and continuous improvement
• Acting as the subject matter expert for Finance stakeholders and internal teams

Deployments and client-facing delivery

• Ensuring configuration and process design aligns with Workday best practice, while still fitting real business needs
• Creating clear plans, timelines, and updates to keep stakeholders aligned
• Leading deployments from discovery through to go-live and post go-live stabilisation

Release, security, integrations and reporting

• Building dashboards and reporting that gives leadership real visibility (spend, project performance, audit readiness)
• Partnering with IT and wider teams on integrations and data flows (EIB and other approaches depending on the environment)
• Supporting financial security and business process design across the suite
• Managing Workday release cycles, impact assessment, testing, and rollout of relevant Financials features

Getting involved early in the sales cycle

• A key part of this role is supporting the early commercial journey
• You will work with internal stakeholders at the front end to help shape solutions, approach, and expectations
• You will have real influence on how Workday Financials is positioned and delivered

What we need from you

Must have

• Workday Pro certification (Financials / ERP)
• Strong hands-on Workday Financials experience, we are open on background as long as you can own the suite confidently
• Confidence across configuration, troubleshooting, business processes, and stakeholder management
• Ability to operate independently and take full ownership

Nice to have

• Mid to large scale implementation exposure
• Workday Studio or Extend exposure (not essential)

Contract details

• Contract to hire, initially 3 months
• They are open to removing the contract-to-hire structure for the right person, so please do not let that put you off
