We are supporting a client with the hire of a Workday HCM & Financials Director to lead the strategy, operation, and ongoing optimization of a mature Workday environment.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who can own Workday across both HR and Finance, manage a capable systems team, and act as the lead technology resource for Workday HCM and Workday Financials.
The Workday HCM & Financials Director will lead the design, administration, support, and continuous improvement of Workday HCM and Workday Financials.
You will be responsible for day-to-day Workday operations, including issue identification and resolution, reporting and dashboard development, Tier 2 user support, configuration, testing, release readiness, vendor coordination, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
You will also set the strategic direction for HRIS, support governance and compliance activity, lead Workday-related projects, and ensure the platform continues to meet the evolving needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead Workday HCM and Workday Financials configuration, administration, support, and optimization
- Own scheduled Workday upgrades, release activity, testing, issue resolution, and operational readiness
- Provide technical leadership across reporting, integrations, security, business processes, and system governance
- Partner closely with HR, Finance, IT, project managers, senior stakeholders, subject matter experts, and vendors
- Lead Workday-related projects, including planning, documentation, communication, delivery, and status reporting
- Support workforce analytics, compliance reporting, performance metrics, and executive-level updates
- 10+ years of experience in information systems management, HRIS, enterprise systems, or related technology leadership roles
- 5+ years of experience managing staff and budget
- Strong Workday experience in a lead role, including hands-on administration and configuration
- Experience supporting Workday HCM and Workday Financials environments
- Project management experience with a strong understanding of IT best practices, data management, reporting, and business process analysis
- Proven executive-level communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in higher education or another large, complex organization
- Workday certification
- Experience leading Workday projects, enhancements, upgrades, issue resolution, and operational support
- Exposure to governance committees, system administration groups, AI initiatives, compliance reporting, or enterprise technology planning
