Automation Test Engineer
We are hiring an Automation Test Engineer / Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join a high-performing engineering team with a global media organisation.
Our client are currently building an in-house solution to replace an existing, outdated CRM and require a hands-on QA Automation Engineer with strong experience in end-to-end testing, test framework development, and CI/CD integration, who can work independently and take ownership of automation strategy.
The role is for a 3 month contract (initial) working Inside IR35 with 2 days per week on site in London.

As the successful Engineer you will;
- Develop, maintain, and enhance test automation frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript
- Restore and modernise an existing automated test suite (Playwright-based)
- Build new end-to-end (E2E) and UI test automation from scratch
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Ensure automated tests run reliably in pipeline and staging environments
- Collaborate with software engineers, developers, and DevOps teams to improve quality engineering practices
- Strong experience as an Automation Test Engineer, QA Engineer, or SDET
- Hands-on experience with Playwright test automation
- Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript
- Experience building or maintaining test automation frameworks
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred; Jenkins, GitLab CI also relevant)
- Experience with end-to-end testing (E2E), UI testing, and regression testing
- Ability to work independently and proactively and operate outside of a large QA team
- Understanding of Agile / Scrum development environments
- PACT, PactFlow, CDC testing, contract testing
- API testing, REST, Swagger, OpenAPI
- Performance testing, load testing, non-functional testing (NFT)
- DevOps, CI/CD, test pipelines, automation strategy
- Experience in greenfield test framework development
