We are seeking a highly skilled Map & Route Field Engineer to design and build next-generation in-vehicle mapping and routing systems. This role focuses on developing embedded software that integrates external map data providers into automotive platforms, enabling real-time navigation displayed on the vehicle’s centre console.
Unlike mobile or cloud-based mapping solutions, this position is deeply embedded within the vehicle ecosystem—requiring expertise in automotive-grade software, low-level APIs, and real-time data integration across vehicle systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded mapping and routing solutions for in-vehicle infotainment systems
- Build and maintain API pipelines that integrate third-party map providers such as Google Maps, Mapbox, HERE Technologies, and TomTom
- Implement and manage map tile systems across multiple geographies (e.g., Germany, Japan), including region-specific data integrations
- Develop Software Development Kit (SDK) integrations for map providers (e.g., NDS Live, OEM-specific SDKs)
- Work with automotive data protocols and vehicle message buses, including ADASIS, to deliver navigation data into the vehicle system
- Translate raw map data into visual outputs on vehicle displays, ensuring performance and reliability
- Collaborate with OEM teams to integrate mapping solutions into production vehicle platforms
- Optimize performance for real-time routing and vehicle tracking within constrained embedded environments
- Strong programming expertise in C++ (mandatory)
- Experience with embedded operating systems such as:
- Linux
- QNX
- AUTOSAR
- Hands-on experience working within automotive OEM environments
- Familiarity with vehicle communication systems and message buses (e.g., ADASIS)
- Experience developing low-level APIs for in-vehicle systems
- Understanding of automotive data protocols and standards
- Experience integrating map providers such as:
- Google Maps
- Mapbox
- HERE Technologies
- TomTom
- Knowledge of map data standards, including NDS (Navigation Data Standard) and NDS Live
- Understanding of:
- Map projections
- Geospatial data structures
- Map tile generation and rendering
