We are currently looking for an MS Fabric and Data Engineer to work via a globally recognised AI and Business solutions consultancy on a project for a financial services end customer.

This is a large data and security programme specific to the Microsoft cloud space, and this person will be customer facing working as a Fabric and Data SME.

You will be responsible for designing, building and supporting scalable, enterprise-grade data platforms within Microsoft Fabric, ensuring high performance, reliability and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and maintain Microsoft Fabric solutions, including Lakehouses, Warehouses, Semantic Models, Direct Lake implementations and OneLake Shortcuts.
  • Build, deploy and support Fabric Dataflow Gen2 solutions and Data Factory pipelines, implementing effective monitoring, alerting and error-handling practices.
  • Manage and optimise Delta Lake environments, including table maintenance, time travel, OPTIMIZE and VACUUM operations, and merge/upsert strategies.
  • Configure and manage Fabric capacity, including SKU sizing, auto-scaling, burst capacity management and cost optimisation.
  • Deliver secure, scalable and compliant data solutions aligned with financial services regulatory and governance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot platform, pipeline and performance issues, driving root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Work closely with client stakeholders, architects, engineers and business users to deliver data and analytics solutions that support business objectives.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, best practices and operational excellence across the Microsoft Fabric estate.
Required Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Semantic Models, Direct Lake and OneLake.
  • Proven experience building and supporting Fabric Dataflow Gen2 and Data Factory pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of Delta Lake architecture, administration and optimisation techniques.
  • Experience managing Fabric capacity, workload performance and platform cost optimisation.
  • Experience delivering enterprise data platforms within financial services or other highly regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering, data warehousing and modern analytics architectures.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a consultancy-led environment while working directly with end-customer stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in complex technical environments.
This will be a hybrid role with occasional travel to the customer offices in Central London (Canary Wharf), but the majority of the work will be delivered remotely.
