SAP Developer / Integration Consultant (Permanent | Remote-first, Germany-based) Location: Germany (remote-first, 1x/month onsite in Essen or Duisburg)

Contract Type: Full-time, permanent (German employment contract)

Start Date: ASAP

Languages: German (basic working proficiency), English (professional)

About the Role We are currently supporting a leading German organization in hiring a SAP Developer / Integration Consultant to strengthen their internal HR Tech & Payroll integration capabilities. You will join a cross-functional team responsible for maintaining and developing complex interfaces between SAP and Workday ( Other third party ).

This is a permanent in-house position with a remote-first setup — ideal for candidates seeking long-term stability and the opportunity to work on high-impact internal systems, rather than external client projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain SAP-side integrations within a complex, heavily customised system landscape

  • Support existing HR and Payroll processes by ensuring reliable SAP <> Workday data flows

  • Collaborate closely with both SAP and Workday teams (structurally separate but working in tandem)

  • Gradually take ownership of key interfaces and serve as a backup to the current senior SAP integration expert

  • Contribute to reducing risk by increasing internal redundancy and improving continuity in critical system integrations

Must-Have Skills:

  • Strong SAP development experience (e.g., ABAP, custom module work)

  • Solid understanding of SAP integrations, especially in HR or Payroll environments

  • Comfortable navigating complex system architectures

  • Based in Germany (due to employment, tax, and team structure requirements)

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Prior exposure to Workday integrations is a strong plus

  • Basic German language skills (English-only candidates may face communication barriers in this team)

  • Ability and willingness to grow into a cross-system integration lead role over time

What You’ll Achieve in the First 6 Months
  • Get up to speed with the internal integration landscape across SAP HR, Workday, and proprietary systems

  • Learn the internal tools and configuration approaches used by the team

  • Begin contributing independently to SAP-side integration development

  • Serve as a reliable support for the existing senior SAP integration expert

Challenges & Environment This is not a greenfield role. The integration environment is mature and complex, with deep customisations and dependencies. The ideal candidate will bring patience, curiosity, and strong problem-solving skills to navigate this structure and add long-term value.

Why Join?
  • Remote-first culture: Only 1 day/month required onsite

  • Stable, in-house position in a well-established organisation (27,000) employees

  • Exposure to Workday: A rare chance to deepen your skills in a fast-growing HCM ecosystem

  • Long-term opportunity: Become a key internal integration expert or future systems architect

  • Visible impact: This role directly supports HR and payroll continuity across the business
